When Friendship Fades

You didn’t know how much they meant to you,
Until they’re gone, and the pain breaks through.
You never thought you’d be apart,
But now you’re left with an aching heart.

You loved their laugh, the times you shared,
Thinking they’d always be someone who cared.
But now the truth is hard to face,
They’ve left behind a big empty space.

For years, you trusted without a doubt,
Blind to the lies they spun throughout.
They stole your trust, talked behind your back,
And all along, you stayed on track.

When you found out what they had to say,
You told them it couldn’t stay this way.
They begged and pleaded once again,
Saying they’d be true, as they had been.

But in no time, it’s the same old game,
Telling you, “It’s not what it became.”
Yet betrayal’s sting can’t be denied,
It’s one of the worst pains deep inside.

You thought you knew them, through and through,
But they were hiding things from you.
It’s painful when the truth comes out,
When all you believed fills you with doubt.

So, you let them go, though it hurts to say,
A friend like that can’t truly stay.
And though it stings to cut the tie,
You know it’s time to say goodbye.
