My Sister

She was so delicate, so small,
She had no clue at all.
Her life would soon end,
And it'd be hard for my heart to mend.

We would've been the best of friends,
But then came life's twists and bends.
Her life was but a mere glance,
She never even got her chance.

She would've worked hard, got straight A's,
And figured out how to navigate life's difficult ways.
She would've loved her kids with all her heart,
If only she'd gotten to play that part.

How would things have played out if she had lived her life?
I'm sure her husband would've been proud to call her his wife.
I'm sure she was better than I could ever be,
So why did God choose to take her and not me?

So I look to the day I’ll feel her hug once more,
It's truly what God has in store.
So I will wipe off the tears I shed today,
Because I know that I will see her again someday.
